‘A Dog Called Dodge’

While teaching myself water colours in 2004, I wrote & illustrated a children’s book!

Book Forward

‘A Dog Called Dodge’ written & illustrated by Senior Ranger Myra Giardini, was developed as an educational aid that Rangers themselves could read to young children in Mandurah.

‘The poetic story stirs the emotions felt for the main character. It is funny, sad, worrying and happy, all while reinforcing the need for responsible pet ownership.

A finalist in the category of Effective Communications at the 2004 Local Government Best Practice Awards and supported by the educational branch of the RSPCA in WA, ‘A Dog Called Dodge’ has been widely accepted.

With the support of the City, Myra has taken the story one step further, with the first 1000 copies donated to K9 Dog Rescue Group. K9, a voluntary organisation that rescues hundreds of dogs from the Mandurah Pound each year, can now use the book to fundraise and highlight the needs of a newly acquired dog.

I commend this book to you, it promotes responsible pet ownership, giving the reader a positive insight into the role of the Ranger in reuniting the dog with its family.’
